Mountain View’s “Essentials”
The following are the core beliefs of Mountain View Presbyterian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. We celebrate God by being a Christ-centered church, reaching out to embrace our community,
helping our neighbors know, love, and serve Jesus Christ.
God
We believe there is one God, revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created all things and made humankind in His own image.
The Fall
We believe evil entered the world because humanity rejected God, bringing darkness and death into the world. Humans continue to bear the image and goodness of God while simultaneously existing in a broken state, alienated from God.
Redemption
We believe God loved humanity despite our rebellious nature, and in His love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue humanity from the curse of sickness and death. God become human in Jesus Christ as the full revelation of God to demonstrate His overwhelming love.
The Cross
We believe Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross for the forgiveness of sins and rose three days later by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, even though He was sinless, paid the penalty for our sins. Jesus ascended into heaven and rules and reigns with the Father.
The Gospel
We believe God offers His gift of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life for anyone who wishes to place their faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him
The Holy Spirit
We believe God remains present and involved in our lives and the world through the Holy Spirit. God poured out the Holy Spirit on the church for the purpose of teaching, gifting, and guiding His church.
The Word of God
We believe the Bible, comprised of the Old and New Testaments, is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the primary authority on matters of faith and morality.
The Church
We believe God has called the church to partner with Him in word and deed to share His message of hope, healing, and restoration found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the primary purpose of the Church is to love God, love our neighbors, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Restoration
We believe Christ will one day return to Earth to fully establish His Kingdom of peace, love, and eternal life.
